Choose
somewhere convenient
You need to be able to get to the bin easily to
fill it.
Choose somewhere sunny
Don't tuck it away in a dark corner! The
organisms that turn your rubbish into compost will be happier at a
higher temperature so if you put the bin in a sunny spot it will work
faster. If you don’t have a sunny
space for your bin it will still work in shade but will take very much
longer to produce compost.
Place
the bin on bare soil to help drainage and let the soil bacteria get to
work on the material.
Leave space around the bin
You'll want to leave enough space around the bin
so you can take it off and put it beside your compost when it's ready.
Once you've got your bin set up you'll be ready to
start filling it, have a look at the
compost recipe.
